Leaving the Country!

Tomorrow I bail on you all and run off for funtimes and work exoperience in the land of freezing - also known as Dublin and London. I'll try to be blogging as much as possible about my trip but I'll probably be busy and not have enough money to buy internet. I feel really silly for only getting 20Euro a day to survive on, but mum and dad were really angry that I wanted more and that the exchange rate was shitty (.58) so I guess I'll be starving myself to try and get internet! I'll hopefully at least have photos up on a flickr account which I'll link to here.

Hope to be talking to you soon!

My thoughts on Twilight.

Okay, so I've been avoiding watching Twilight for a while. Since the whole thing started, really. Mainly because I am NOT a big fan of Robert Patternson or Fake Accents, both of which feature quite a lot in this film. But with New Moon coming out, and everyone going nuts, I thought, maybe I'm being a wanker, and a Anne Rice purist, and maybe I should give it a go. So I did.

First of all, the damn film makes no sence. If I was a girl at high school and some weird guy had eyes that changed colour and he covered his nose because I stunk so bad, and then tried to change out of that class, I wouldn't be in love with him. I wouldn't even talk to him. If he then saved my life by being super human, I would want to get as far away from freak boy as possible. But stupid Bella is a dumbass. Anyways, apart from the whole film, these are a few things I found stupid:
- Vampires sparkling. I mean, he's meant to be a demon killing machine, not a dancer in the pride parade.
- Captain obvious "I'm a warewolf". Anyone with half a brain could see it. Suspence fail.
- The vampires go to school. I don't know about you, but if I was a vampire, I wouldn't put up with that shit. Okay, so they justify it by saying "the younger we are when we start, the longer we can stay in one place." Cool, fine, whatever, why dont you just all go and live in the mountains or some crap? You don't eat people anyways. ALSO. If the smell of blood throws vampires into some crazy frenzy, how do you think they manage with so many teenage girls? Seriously. How could they even go anywhere in any sort of crowd? GAH
- The blonde vampire was a terrible actor, and a terrible character.
- Why didn't Bella just buy the stupid book off Amazon.com? it was right there! Idiot.
- Climbing trees and running fast = as bad as Crouching Tiger. But less funny, because the filmmakers obviously thought it looked great. Spend less money on getting a British guy to sound American, just get a goddamn American (Zac Efron or some other crap "teenage heartthrob".) And spend your money on making shit look good damnit!

Okay, just to clarify, I'm not being mean because its different from Anne Rice. I liked Underworld, Hellsing and even Blade. I dont like this because it's made for 12 year olds (and sad middle aged people like this woman http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFG9lXc2upQ). Sure, I would have loved this book if I was 13. But I'm not quite sure why (or how) people my age can like this sorry piece of trash. Seriously.

In short: Twilight? More like Twi-LAME

The Penguin Mission

So, everyone knows about these Penguin books right? The sexy Orange ones, called the "Popular Penguin Collection"? Well, there's 100 of them, and I have a goal to buy and read them all! So far I've done:

I'm currently reading Fabric of the Cosmos which is the first non-fiction book I've tackled. It's going slowly (mainly because I am time poor at the moment) but well. I am enjoying it heartily.

There are a few books I am really excited to read: sadly, not every bookstore has all the titles, and most only ahve a few (Borders has the best range, but still, not all of them.) Its quite exciting to go and have a look at them and see if any of my top 5 are there, which I have to buy straight away! Currently my top 5 are:
Fabric of the Cosmos currently reading
A Picture of Dorien Grey already bought
Dracula already bought
Lolita
The Art of War

Work experience of madness

OMG so totally crazy. I've been looking for work experience for a year, but I thought everyone was being rude and not replying to me. It wasnt until dad practically forced me to chase people down that anyone replied to me. And now I have TWO, one after another, in Dublin and London! I'm going to spend Christmas in Ireland! How exciting!
^_^
I'll be dressing on the 2009 Olympia Theatre Pantomime - Robin Hood. Not only that, I'm assisting the LEADS. And helping with hair and makeup. ZOMG crazy exciting.
And then I go over to London and work on Hotel Sorrento with designer Kate Guinness. Also, super exciting.

I hope while I'm there I can see things like Dublin castle, Stonehenge and Madam Tussauds. I've never been to the UK, and I've never had a wintery Christmas. I'm going to freeze my nuts off. ^_^ haha!

Ice cream Playsuit Project

Its Saturday and I think that means it's time for a new sewing project for the weekend.

Being the stupid I am, I forgot to take a picture of the fabric I'm using before I took it to uni and left it there >_<>

Its a fun little playsuit for summer made in a blue ice cream print fabric I bought aaaaaaages ago on sale. I was going to make a dress out of it last year but another girl at uni beat me too it and I didnt want to seem like I was copying.
I dont know whether I want navy or pink binding. At the moment I'm thinking navy. I'll have to draft the pattern myself, but I've already half done that yesterday. Haha. So anyways I hope to have this done by the end of tomorrow, but I also have to have my homework done by then so boooo!
Anyways, blog you later.
